November 13th, 2008 Allan Tabilas Posted in Salsa |

Arelis Beato, Jeremy Almonte (Tropical Image) with Dimas at the 2007 World Salsa ChampionshipsBased on the success of the the first gala last year, Arelis Beato of Brooklyn’s Tropical Image Dance Company is throwing the second annual Brooklyn Salsa Gala, Friday, November 14 at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple Grand Ballroom from 8pm - 3am (dress to impress).  Arelis has reported that over 500 tickets have been sold, and expects to have over 650 people at the event.  In New York, this is definitely the spot to be in.  The event also supports Tropical Image kids program, where the dance school supports the local youth.

The event features a large number of New York’s finest performers, including Yamulee, Imagenes de Karisma, Xibicion Santo Rico, Piel Canela.  Other groups include Universal Mambo from Orlando, and Otto y su Melao Show from Colombia.

In addition, the gala is also a qualifier for the 2008 World Salsa Championships (which itself has been postponed).  Jeremy Almonte and Arelis represented Tropical Image in the semifinals of the on2 division at the 2007 event.

We’ll be there from a media coverage standpoint, as well as SalsaMerengue.TV, a great media/video resource covering the NY Mambo/Salsa scene, with tons of footage of incredible live bands.
