In mid December, some of Los Angeles’ salsa pioneers, the Francisco Vazquez and Los Rumberos, held the 8th annual Fiesta Del Barrio, at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, California. The event marked the return of Johnny Vazquez to the U.S. (he performs in Italy and Europe with his group, Imperio Azteca)
Some of the performers at the event included Yamulee, Junior Alabi and Emily Alabi (and dance company Amicita), Edwin Rivera and Ashley Dawson, Alex Da Silva and Alien Ramirez, Abel Pena and Ritmo y Salsa, Stephanie Stephenson and Jennifer Silva, Charlene Rose, and Salsabor y Cache.
