The Albert Torres Productions newsletter has an update regarding the 4th annual 2009 World Salsa Championships.  They comment that due to economic conditions, particularly with sponsors, that they had to postpone the event.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SALSA SEVEN

Albert Torres and The Salsa Seven will soon announce the new dates and
location of the 4th Annual World Salsa Championships for 2009.  We are
looking forward to joining with you again to bring together the finest
salsa dance competition in the world as we have for three years.
We have not forgotten your loyalty, patience and support. We have seen
your e-mails and heard your voices and will work to make our
relationship stronger than ever.
Together, we have grown and been able to showcase to the world your
remarkable talents and the extraordinary passion and growth of salsa
that exists over six continents through ESPN, ESPN International, ESPN
Deportes and other global television outlets.
Unfortunately the horrible economic climate that peaked in the 4th
quarter 2008 affected many businesses including Disney, our partner
for the December 2008 event as well as global sponsors which
necessitated the postponement of last year’s show.
We apologize to you for the sacrifices and difficulties we have put
you through but please know that we intend to return and make the 4th
Annual World Salsa Championships the best dance competition of the
year.
