Posted on March 12th, 2009 by Allan Tabilas
Quickly making its reputation as one of Philadelphia’s premiere salsa events, Philly Jam returns for its third year on April 11. Promoter and dancer Nick Padin (who has interviewed many times for Nuevotec) has lined up a number of world class performers. Some of the scheduled artists include Boston’s Masacote Dance Company and Leña Dance Company, Chicago’s Urban Vibe (2007 World Salsa Championships semifinalist), Art in Motion, Fuzion Creativa (who made their debut last year) and Calle Luna.
The first two events in 2007 and 2008 included two teams who were top 10 finalists at the World Salsa Championships - Descarga Caribe from Chicago (2006 top 10 finalist) and Salsa Heat from Orlando (2007 top 10 finalist), as well as Plan B Dancers. The events have been well attended, with salseros coming from New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
Mario “B” Gonzales of Plan B Dancers also makes his return as MC.
Philly Jam will be located at the Associated Polish Home hall at 9150 Academy Road, Philadelphia, Pa. For more information, please contact Nick Padin.
